Healthcare Sector Sites Visit

On Sunday, June 4th, 2023, the American Chamber of Commerce Saudi Arabia Healthcare Committee leaders and members embarked on a mission to the Eastern Province and explored the healthcare sector environment with senior members from the governmental and private sector in the region.
Healthcare Committee started a day with Coffee Morning Touchpoint at Kempinski Al Othman Hotel before the EP Delegation set out for the day, attended by: Abbott, ASCEND HEALTHCARE SOLUTIONS, BAYER SAUDI ARABIA LLC, Davita Care KSA, Horizon Therapeutics, Illumina, Johnson & Johnson, Organon, Sanofi, KAMS Global, International SOS Al Rushaid, US Consulate Dhahran.
First stop was at Sulaiman Al Habib Hospital in Al Khobar where the delegation got a special private tour of the hospital by Dr. Waleed H Albuali, the Medical Director and Mazen Al Homood, General Director. All guests were excited to see the US innovation at the heart of the operations.
The next stop was at Sulaiman Al Habib’s Radiology Department, which uses a system created by another leading US company.
The delegation then explored a number of other departments in Sulaiman Al Habib Hospital, including the outpatient clinic, men’s physiotherapy, and the Royal Ob-Gyne Delivery Suite before meeting with hospital leaders for a discussion about partnership opportunities between the private healthcare sector in KSA and USA businesses. The guests also enjoyed a delicious lunch sponsored by Sulaiman Al Habib Hospital.
Afterwards the Healthcare Committee Delegation headed to Dammam to explore the Eastern Health Cluster. Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Ghamdi, CEO, of the Cluster and his leadership met with Committee leaders and members to discuss ways the US healthcare business operating in Saudi can support the clusters’ advancements across the Kingdom.
The guests then headed down to road for a tour of King Fahad Specialist Hospital. The committee also met with Hospital leaders to learn more about the hospital’s patient population and specialties.
The delegation rounded out the day with an introduction to International SOS Al Rushaid, which provides emergency evacuation logistics and jobsite clinical services to many large-scale construction sites and off-shore rigs around the Kingdom. All guests also received a tour of the group’s new poly-clinic in Al Khobar, providing a wide range of medical services, including pediatrics, ob-gyne, dental care, physiotherapy, internal medicine, opthamology, and more.
The site visits were followed by an evening reception at the U.S. Consulate Dhahran introducing the visiting delegation of AmCham Saudi Arabia Healthcare Committee members to the Eastern Province healthcare sector Business community and other AmCham members.
Tatyana Aguirre, US Commercial Consul, gave opening remarks followed by the keynote speaker Mazen Takhah, Chair of AmCham Saudi Arabia Healthcare Committee.
Guests had the opportunity to network with key stakeholders in the healthcare industry.

The AmCham Saudi Arabia Healthcare Committee plans, promotes, and implements initiatives about disease awareness and prevention, and helps the community to be more motivated and skilled to adopt the culture of a healthy lifestyle. As part of AmCham, this committee offers consultation for companies interested in becoming healthcare providers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
