American Connect: Tax, Services & Cultural Exchange

On February 16th, the American Chamber of Commerce Saudi Arabia hosted a dynamic evening at Flow Granada, Riyadh, under the theme of “Americans Connect: Tax, Services & Cultural Exchange.” The event brought together expatriates, industry experts, and community members for an engaging and insightful discussion on the latest tax updates, expatriate services, and intercultural dialogue.
The evening was kickstarted by Erich Phillips, our Executive Director, and featured distinguished speakers including:
• Brandon Mitchener, Executive Director of Tax Fairness for Americans Abroad, discussing the Tax Fairness for Americans Abroad (TFAA) Act and the future of taxation for Americans overseas
Executive Director of Tax Fairness for Americans Abroad, covering tax planning, return filing, and latest updates
• Thomas Carden, Founder & U.S. Expatriate Tax Specialist at American International Tax Advisers, covering tax planning, return filing and latest considerations for American tax filers
• Kala Carruthers Azar, Chief of American Citizen Services at U.S. Embassy Riyadh, offering an overview of services available to American citizens in Saudi Arabia, including the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) at Step.State.Gov for the latest travel alerts, emergency updates and local warnings
• Nasreen El-Mansub, Founder & CEO of Al-Multaqa Consultancy, presenting on “Beyond the Stereotype in Saudi Arabia”
The evening concluded with closing remarks from Flow Granada representative, Hussein Ali, followed by networking and light refreshments, allowing attendees to connect, share insights, and build relationships.
